Restaurant Madera is located in the part of Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra street, known in the past as the Fišegčijska čaršija, because, according to the order of Prince Miloš Obrenović, it was destined for the sale of ficheles and gunpowder.
In 1937, a multi-storey building was built on the site, on the ground floor where the Madera restaurant was located. It is believed that the restaurant was named after the quality wine that one guest brought from the Portuguese island of Madeira.
In 2003, Madera got its present-day appearance.
